Who are we?
We are the fourth generation, third class descendants of Datoh Kulup Lembang (some say Tok/Toh Lembang/Limbang), a historical figure that is synonymous with the history of the township of Tambun, Ipoh.
We are also the second generation, third class descendants of Haji Abdul Aziz bin Ahamad (Ahmad) Din, a local Tambun resident that was awarded Pingat Pangkuan Negara by the Yang Dipertuan Agung in 1968.
Despite having such illustrious figures as our great ancestors, most of the time we feel like we are the 'Cicit-Cicit, Canggah-Canggah Tenggelam di Tambun' but we are very much comfortable with that feeling because we know that we are completely unknown, completely irrelevant in the township of Tambun. We however look forward to the day we die because when the time comes for us to meet our Creator, the whole of Tambun and of course Mukim Hulu Kinta would finally know that we are actually closely related with the late Datoh Kulup Lembang and Haji Abdul Aziz.
Family Tree (Salasilah) of Datoh Kulup Lembang - Abdul Aziz
The State of Our Union
You may have heard people saying that the descendants of Datoh Kulup Lembang-Abdul Aziz are one tightly-knitted, fine and dandy group. Yes, we were many years ago but things have changed a lot especially after the death of our Grandfather, the late Allahyarham Haji Abdul Aziz. It got even worse after one by one of our parents, the first generation of the descendants of Haji Abdul Aziz had passed away.
We have no specific name for it. Is it the New World Order? Or is it the New Kinta Order? Or could it be the New Batu Gajah Order? Or what about the New Tambun Order? We don't really know but what we have in place right now is some kind of an awful, despicable caste system that reminded us of the ancient Brahmins and Pariahs. The family of the late Allahyarhammah Puteh Alawiah, the eldest child of the late Allahyarham Haji Abdul Aziz for an example, has been badly treated and frowned upon even by the outsiders. It is indeed a sad tragedy!
How did this Descendants of Datoh Kulup Lembang-Abdul Aziz Group come about?
A few years ago, the idea to form a Toh Kulup Lembang (we didn't know that our Great Great Grandfather was a Datoh at that point in time) family association was mooted by the heirs of the late Allahyarhammah Hajjah Uzaimah, one of the daughters of the late Allahyarham Haji Abdul Aziz. The late Allahyarhammah Rosayu, the daughter of the late Allahyarhammah Puteh Alawiah, the eldest child and one of the daughters of Haji Abdul Aziz, was very supportive of the idea too.
On one fateful day, the heirs of the late Allahyarhammah Hajjah Uzaimah presented the idea to our well educated aunt, the daughter-in-law of the late Allahyarham Haji Abdul Aziz. She shot down the idea and insisted that we should base or name the proposed family association in honour of our late Grandfather, Allahyarham Haji Abdul Aziz. Out of respect and of course in our sheer puzzlement, the idea was abandoned.
However, to our sheer shock, on November 27th 2014, we learned about the existence of an effort to formally recognized our Great Great Grandfather as the founder of the township of Tambun! We now realized that somewhere out there, certain parties have been silently working towards such recognition and have been riding upon the legacies left by our great ancestors for quite some time but we were never confided nor informed about it. Thus leaving us with no choice but to launch this blog and of course the Descendants of Datoh Kulup Lembang-Abdul Aziz Group.
